Bharat Biotech seeks DCGI approval to conduct trial for intranasal vaccine booster

Bharat Biotech has submitted an application to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) seeking approval to conduct a late-stage trial for a booster dose of its intranasal vaccine against COVID-19.

A Bharat Biotech spokesperson said that the company has submitted an application for a phase 3 clinical trial to the DCGI, and added that it will be easier to administer an intranasal vaccine as booster in mass vaccination drive.

While vaccine manufacturers in India are persuading the government to approve vaccine boosters, the health ministry has stated that there is no immediate plan to authorize booster jabs as full vaccination of the eligible population is the priority at present… (ET Healthworld – Reuters, December 20, 2021)
